In Word 2007 how do you stop the two column

setup if you want to go back to a single column? In the current document I am working on the page begins with one column. Then in the next paragraph it switches to two columns. So far so good. Now I want the third paragraph to return to one column. How do I do this? I cannot seem to get it to work.
