...to create one from the hard drive, help? i have an old laptop with windows 2000. I would like to create a backup cd, more like an installation cd. if I copy the folder i386 , and if for some reason windows fails .can i format c, then paste the folder i386 back and using bart pe to run winnt32.exe, would that reinstall windows2000?I have reinstalled win2k using bart pe, but it leaves behind a lot of folders and settings, and im running out of space, so basically i want to strat fresh.PLEASE only people that are really experienced, cause ive seen a lot of really lame answers...just confusing people.look at that first answer, wow, impressive, If you do not know what im talking about just move on,ok, well, the people ready to answer must understand the question, must have used bart pe in the past, and reinstaled windows a couple of times, and the not so expensive way.ever since the mughty Norton was all destroyed by spysherrif, i will not give those guys a penny for their product.hey thanks for the page, really good stuff, (answer3)so you know (everybody) when you buy a pc, youre also buying the OS even if it is tied up to that hardware ,and you can create backups.
