Will my motherboard be able to use an Intel Core 2 Duo

Processor? My motherboard has the LGA775 socket...and is currently running an Intel Pentium 4 Processor. I just bought an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.6 GHz processor, Will my motherboard be able to use it? or do I have to go out and buy a new motherboard? **sigh**
