Why is my computer importing duplicate pictures?

I have an HP Pavilion dv2415nr Entertainment Notebook PC. Lately, when I have tried importing pictures from my camera, my computer wants to import ALL of them, even though there are only a few new pictures. Why is my computer wanting to import duplicate pictures and how can I fix it?
