Why are Macintosh components so much more

expensive than PC? After a liftime of computers I am washing my hands of PC's and switching to Mac. I'm tired of the crashing, viruses, and unstable operating systems. I want to build my own system but Apple components are more expensive than I thought? Would it be easier to by a complete system?
