why am i getting so many alerts about virus

and internet explorer never did before i started using xp?

It is Coz ur computer is infected by spyware(type of virus)This comes When you visit a adult site or porn site so consult the administrator otherwise ur computer will start working very slowly.

Tose alerts are a form of pop-ups. You have spyware.

windows xp is very susceptible to worms and virus..be sure to install a good anti-virus software and regularly run your anti-spyware program

Service pack 2 within XP will pop all windows messages if ure security isnt to SP2 settigns
