Whats the best way to encode video for a DVD+R DL?

I ordered a pack of verbatim DVD+R DLs. It says 16 hours of vhs quality can fit. I want to jam a bunch of episodes of a show on a dvd. I have tmpgenc, convertxtodvd, and svcd2dvd. What are my best options? I plan to cut intros and credits in virtualdub to cut minutes per episode.

i'm not really familar with tose programs. you don;t want to convert the files to dvd quality, i fyou want vhs quality, use something like mpeg-4. use nero to burn the CD's, or dvd shrink may work.
