what are the new police scanners that are going to

have to be bought after april 2006.? i heard they were updating them and that you could not listen to the scanner unless you had the new type and i was wondering what they are

they are digital. you will need an authorised radio to pick these signals up.

They do not have to be bought after April 2006....Many areas will not have the funding to switch to a digital or even a trunked radio system.
