What is a decent brand/type of DVD Player?

My boss is buying me a DVD Player for working extra hard and doing a great job. I can charge a total of $100 to his corporate card. Smile However, I know NOTHING about DVD Players. I had an old one my brother gave me and it broke down. Haven't had one since. I don't have a flat screen/LCD television... just a plain ole one that's about 5 years old. So, do I want a DVD player that is "progressive-scan" or a DVD "recorder" or WHAT??? I'm seriously not sure and would love some input. Thanks!!!!!!!!! Smile
