What is "Component Video Output" in a DVD Player?

I want to have an Output to my TV. The Quality of "Component Video Output" is better than the normal Output of my DVD Player?Its Cable has 3 color wire. I want to know if all of these 3 wire are for VIDEO Output only and I must use another Cable for Audio?
