What is the best home computer system to purchase?
Need it mostly for emails and photos. Typing some manuscripts.

I wish you know some LinuxAll is free, and pretty user friendly in those daysEspecially for sharing emails, photos and even making your own post gate and web server.Dell kicks asses by price and quality, i.e. good compromise If on the go, get one of Dell laptop with WiFi

Personnaly, I prefer macintosh's(made by apple). The iMac G5 is good.

I'd agree on getting an iMac G5. It has Mail and iPhoto built-in so your e-mail and photos are taken care of, and you can add the iWork software inexpensively for word-processing and presentation needs. Plus you won't have to worry nearly as much about viruses and spyware as your Windows-using friends.
