Is there a way to fix my iPhone ringtone?

My iPhone ringtone was purchased from iTunes, and when I put in on my iPhone, it had WAY too much bass. Every time the bass hits, the iPhone speaker bottoms out, and I am afriad of my speaker blowing on my new investment. Any ideas how I can fix the ringtone to take the bass out?
