Sub and Amp setup help?

Can someone give me a good website or something that gives a good step by step process of setting up an amp into my 97 grand am. I got a free 600 watt amp and was thinking about putting it in my car. And will my stock speakers sound better if i just put the amp in? Or do i need to buy new speakers and/or subs?
