Regular DVD disc played on a HD DVD Player on a HD

1080p LCD TV?? Im gonna buy a 1080 LCD TV and HD DVD Player. Are all regular DVDs gonna look HD??Or the disc needs to be HD too?Is this an smart choice? TV and player?
