problem starting my computer?

Every time I try to start it it sort of makes a weird sound then it gets quiet then the sound again then quiet etc.. and the monitor says "no signal". After 20 times trying to start it finally starts and there's no problem but Im sick of pushing the button so many times. What could it be?
