Is the notebook for the Fly Fusion Pentop Computer

needed? I would like the Fly Fusion Pentop Computer for Christmas and my family said they needed more info on it so they could decide if they could just get the pen or if they needed to get extra things to make it work... you know how it goes. (too many extra things = less likely chance to get it)
