I need to watch .wmv files on a regular DVD player.

How? I have some files that were created by windows movie maker, and I would like to save them on a DVD so my kids can watch them on their DVD player. The files are already in .wmv & .mpeg format. and the DVD player wasn't able to read that format (the format wasn't supported by the player). Can you please help on how to change the format in a way that a regular DVD player can read? Thank you
