My onboard sound went out , so i added a 'soundblaster'

PCI sound card..? sound plays fine on my real player, or media player, however listening to wave or midi sounds or sounds from YouTube, or Metacafe, i get no sound..ive checked sound properties and everything seems to be checked ok, any suggestions?
