my computer doesn't recognize my DVD RW dvd...

...burner please help? I have an external drive DVDRW t o be exact Emprex model # 116UI my computer doesn't recognize it. The burner uses USB connection .I am Using ClonDVD and when it tells me to choose the destination drive.. my DVDRW. is not there does anyone have an idea of what i could do...please help if you know about this...
