My CD burner needs help!!! PLEASE HELP ME!!!?

Lately, whenever I make a CD a few songs will not work and end up skipping when I play the CD. I found out that it was because my CD burner was on too high of a burn speed. What speed should it be on? I am trying to burn a CD out of iTunes. I have dial-up internet connection. Please help me if you can!
