Is it ok to use other brands of CD on a Sony

Handycam? I just got Sony Handycam , i use those small cd. i havent figured out to delete trial videos yet and i wanted to buy new cds...but they are quite expensive, can i use cheaper brands or do risk damaging my handycam?
