So, My 450w power supply went out about a week ago. I bought a new 600w PSU and the fan doesnt work. I tried the new PSU and started to smell a burning plastic smell. I knew that the PSU was frying. I left my comp installing XP and left the room for a period of 5 minutes, when I came back, my comp was off. I figured that somehow without a fan, the psu would keep cool. ANYWAY, I turned the psu on again, and the PSU light came on as well as the LAN light on the mobo. I tried to press the power button on my case, and nothing. I took apart the case, unplugged all cables, replugged in all cables, and tried again. nothing. Finally, i plugged only the power button into the PSU and it made a loud constant BEEP!!! I shut it off again from the PSU. Then nothing a few more times. I dont know whether I need a new PSU or if its the Power Button or even the mobo??Suggestions?
