You mean you would even seriously think of upgrading Windows XP japanese version to Vista English? Upgrading between different language versions of the same operating system doesn't even work well in Microsoft - even though they tell you that it will. Now if the question is can you transfer files between one computer that runs Windows Vista English and Windows XP japanese, the answer to that one is "of course".
