iPod Shuffle setup assistant?

It says this starts automatically when the iPod is connected to the computer but can take a few minutes if the iPod is also charging.Mine has been plugged in for ages now and nothing has happened. What should I do now?Thanks Timothy but it doesn't come with software, it says it is all automatic
