If I don't have plans to play games on my laptop,...
...should I buy a video card that has more than 64MB memory? I am planning to buy Dell 9300. I can upgrade the video card to 256MB nVidia for $200. I don't play computer games. I am just wondering is there any other reason to upgrade the video card that is worth spending those extra bucks.thanks

Nah. You need good graphic card for either games, or other software that would use it (e.g. Maya/3DStudioMAX). So if laptop will be used for office-related applications only, it's a waste of money.

I almost entirely agree with the previous answer. The only possible thing to watch out for is the next version of Windows, dubbed Windows Vista. This OS is going to come packaged with a new drawing API that uses the capabilities of your 3D card. The quality of what your OS displays is going to be correlated to the specs of your 3d card.Nvidia keeps a list of GPUs expected to work to some extent with Vista. Obviously, the more recent chips are likely to yield better rendering quality. If you don't feel the need to always run the latest software, you don't need to worry about it.Otherwise, you may want to plan for the future.
