How to remove the cpu heatsink and fan?
the problem is that socket (the thing that is attached to the board) is loose. (it is also the thing on which the fasteners are fastened) that is why i can't turn the fasteners away from the board. because of that one socket turns also as i turn the fasteners? what can i do? pls help me, thanks. it is intel p4 fan. the mobo is asus p5v800-mx. LGA 775 socket... thanks

A hammer and chisel will take them right out.

it depends but all heatsinks are held on by clips and thermal paste wich becomes like glue so they can be very tough to get off

You are probably going to have to remove the motherboard from the case. Normally, on Socket 775 motherboards the thing the processor heatsink is screwed into is on the bottom side of the motherboard. It's shaped kind of like an "X". Take the motherboard out, and you should be able to unscrew the heatsink screws holding it.
