AND... how much does it cost to replace a dingle dangle in my car?I just LOVE these questions about "How Much" to do something and there isn't enough information to even make a guess. WHAT KIND of TV set? WHAT IS THE MODEL NUMBER? WHICH INTEGRATED CIRCUIT... WHAT IS THE NUMBER?You have asked a question that has several MILLION answers... it can NOT be answered with the information you have given.NOW... that being said... I would wonder how the "Technician" could have misplaced and Integrated Circuit WHEN THEY ARE SOLDERED TO THE PC BOARD.I would guess he can't fix it or he screwed things up so badly he can't fix it OR... and this is even worse... he is trying to soak you for the repairs. My advice is... GET A NEW TV and tell him to toss your old one... his dumpster is bigger than yours. In some, if not most, of the TV sets that have been built in the past 10 years, when the main IC goes, you can NOT get a replacement... the company just simply DOES NOT HAVE REPLACEMENTS... TV sets are a throwaway item these days... so throw yours away and get a new set.

I work for a tv sales/service store that has been in business since 1964. I honestly don't think the "technician" (is he an authorized technician for the brand you have? For any brand?) misplaced your IC. Like another poster, IC's are soldered directly to a board in the tv set. Unless he took the IC off the board and lost it while checking other things (which would make me wonder WHY he took it off the board in the first place if he wasn't positive it was a bad IC) HE or the company he works for, is responsible for replacing the "lost" IC. If this is just a friend who said I can do it for free or cheap - I am sorry but I think you either need to just recycle the old tv and replace it or take it to an actual tv repair shop.
