How do i setup a belkin router with a 2wire...

...modem that goes with my desktop, but the router for my laptop? I need to know how to set the router up so it connects y laptop through my 2wire modem on my desktop. I am currently using a wifi connection from somewhere close (linksys) its not from me. Is that ok?if you need anymore information i will add it if specified
