how do i connect my desktop to a wired internet...

...connection and my laptop to a wireless connection? i have a wired internet connection in my house, which worked fine with my desktop, but i just got a laptop and a wireless router and would like the desktop to stay wired and use wireless on the laptop, I have 1 wireless router and 1 modem, is this possible
