blu-ray for life, holds way more data than an hd-dvd! right now blu-ray is in the lead over hd-dvd, they sold more copies of blu-ray movies. i think that it is in part due to the sony playstation 3. hd-dvd could make a comeback with the add on for the xbox 360.

blu ray. more storage, better bandwith, better security. More studios support blu-ray. you will never find titles such as pirates of the carribean, spiderman, star wars, finding neverland, blackhawk down (sony, disney, and fox movies are blu-ray exclusive) on hd dvd. this is mostly due to better security on blu-ray discs.

It could go either way. Blu-ray has more support in US, but HD-DVD has more support worldwide. The most committed studio to either format is Universal and they have released more HD movies than any studio on any format. Warner is supposed to be format neutral, but they have released their biggest titles, such as The Matrix Trilogy, Batman Begins, and V for Vendetta, exclusively on HD-DVD. Right now standalone HD-DVD players outsell standalone Blu-Ray players, but that is not counting the PS3 or the Xbox 360 add-on. It could easily go either way. > 5% of the population owns either format so it will all come down to who makes the least expensive and most accesible player.
