I have a windows 98 machine that will not

restart from the windows start menu.? The machine starts the process, shuts the screen down then locks up. At this point I must turn the power off to restart.I have checked the windows startup menu in advanced under msconfig and it will now go to the startup menu (same as f8) then boot without issue.
