I have a virus on my computer can someone tell

me which one is the best antivirus for my particular case? I got this virus from the internet and it is a trojan I believe. As soon as I want to open the internet icon it closes the window and an error message pops up. I already tried using the AVG antivirus and when it scans it just detects the virus but is does not eliminate the virus. Please help me!!!
