I have a PC with 2 256 SDRAM chipsets and...

...there r 2 more slots I bought 1GB DDR which fits should i put it in I have a PC with two 256 SDRAM chipsets and there are 2 more slots. I bought 1GB DDR which fits into the ram slots. should i put it in? i previouslyfried a pc by putting laptop ram in it.
