Hard Disk format.?
I would like to know how much times can a hard disk be formatted without it becoming damaged. Will repeated formatting damage the hard disk over time?

theoritically no.. as its just erasing the magnetically aranged data.. but more formating means running the disk more no of times.. demagnetising (not sure).. might lead to damage...

Its no harder on it than any other write/erase/write cycle is. You're just erasing and restoring the fat tables which are not overwritten much anyway. The rest of the disk isn't affected, the bits are still there and can even be recovered. They will be overwritten when their address is used in the new file allocation table as you use the disk. I've got a 6 year old one I've reformatted at least 10 times and it still works fine. It's a pain though. I'd just use a really good file shredder to get rid of the garbage, or for ultimate data deletion, replace the drive and use a hammer on the old one. As cheap as drives are now its almost not worth the time.

as far as i know , formatting your harddisk can be damaging on the long run , especially if you keep doing regular not quick formats , it can lead to the appearing of bad sectors , or unaccessible areas on the HDD surface , so u can do it , but not every couple of days , i have a desktop pc which i have formatted the C drive about 15 times and it still works perfectly.
