Google? searching and such...?

I am recently promoting a fantastic artist long distance. I have started a webpage for her but I have no idea as to how to get it to show up in searches like google or yahoo. I am only quasi tech savvy so any help with internet promoting you can provide would be fantastically helpful!Thanks!Happy holidays...
