Computer help please!!!!?

I have no idea what happened to the sound on my computer... My parents have this computer and they don't know how to use the computer really. So after my dad used it the sound doesn't come on anymore. I checked the speaker, and I checked the mute also. I have no idea why it would just stop working... Does anyone know or have any idea on how to fix it? Thanks.
