AT&T Yahoo DSL requires me to unload Software...

...in order to Setup my new Internet Connection. WHAT?!? What difference does it make how many computers are in the house and what operating system I have? Just give me my fucking connection asshole. Maybe the person on the phone was being an idiot but why do I need some fancy software to setup my connection. Isn't there API in the Router? Don't they know what's being used with their connection anyways by examining packets?
