Depends.Plasma - You have a chance of burn in if you play a lot of video games/watch sports where there is score/symbol somewhere on the screen for too long, but that should not be a problem if you adjust the screen so to the right brightness. In addition plasma does not work well at high elevations, if you live in the mountains. Plasma gas in the TV will disappear slowly so the picture quality will deteriorate somewhat after 3-5 years. However, Plasma does offer the best picture clarity and best black levels of everything out there.LCD - Basically a humongous computer monitor! The black levels are not as good as Plasma. Also, during some action scenes movement is not as crisp as other technologies. But the LCD will last a very long time.By the way, you can probably use either a computer monitor if you wanted to. Make sure your TV has 1080i and 1080p, for highest clarity, and make sure your DVD player can play at those resolutions. All TVs now come with HDTV tuner built into the set so you will not need to worry about that if you're buying new. If you are buying more than 1yr old TV, then you may want to check that it has HDTV tuner built in.
