...failed. Know any other kid-friendly methods? Don't really want to resort to the metal trap that breaks the mouse's back. A bit too ugly for the kids.

The rat zapper is electric. Not sure if you would consider this kid friendly or not. The mouse does not get its back broken just electrocuted.
