...DVD-R? I replaced my CD-R and CD-ROM with a DVD-R and DVD-ROM on seperate controllers with the 80GB HD as master, DVD as slave, another smaller HD as Master with the burner as slave. It works but the hard drive file access is now a lot slower. FOr example, if I save a photo from the net, I have to wait a long time to select the folder to save it into. After that, the file access is a little faster but still slower than before. I disconnected the second hard with no improvement, I connected it this way from advice I read to keep the reader and burner on separate controllers. What is the proper configuration for one, or two hard drives, a DVD burner, and reader? Should the DVD's be master and HD slave?
As a general rule, I keep hard drives on one controller and CD/DVD drives on another. You can check the pin setting for the hard drive, I would use CS(cable select)when using it as a secondary drive.
Master
