check if the reader driver is working well and also check the smart card if it is not corrupt... also check if u have the correct reader that supports the smart card u are using to open it. Also try using another reader... or take it to a media centre that can help u check it professionally.. The technology is just like a faulty floppy disk...

Try the card in another reader if you have one, or take it to a photo lab, where they have readers and see if it can read the files on there (if you have photos on there). Is it unreadable in every device? If it is, then you may be SOL.I have tried sending a data key back to the manufacturer for the data retrieval, and you do not receive the files back as they originated. If they are text files, you can cut and paste some of the text out of the files taht they send back to you, but that is about the extent of it. It's not worth the effort if they are not text documents.Next time, make sure to back up all your data so it rests in 2 different places. On the card, and then also on a hard drive or a CD or something someplace else. Then if one piece croaks, you still have the other.
