About DVD burners...?

Ok I have a Gateway gt5404 series computer, trying to download movies from limewire and put them on a dvd but i keep getting error's half way done w/ the burning. Does anyone have a information about that or any advice. I have been using maxell dvd+r for it on the tower it say's DVD+RW. Does it have to be RW?? PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!!!
