Actor Amitabh Bachchan has apologised for the alleged assault on mediapersons outside his bungalow on Saturday.

Three photo-journalists were allegedly attacked by security guards escorting a cavalcade carrying Bachchan’s newly wed son Abhishekh and his wife Aishwarya outside the family bungalow, ‘Prateeksha’.



Amitabh on Sunday said he was “sorry” for the incident and “apologised with folded hands”. Amitabh clarified the guards who were allegedly involved in the incident belonged to Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh, who is guarded by National Security Guard commandos.

“I have come to apologise, as I read that the media is angry and that they had a tiff with security guards,” said Amitabh.

“I am really sorry and I apologise with folded hands if mediapersons faced trouble because of the security. The security guards weren't for me. They were Amar Singh's security guards.”

Amitabh said the incident probably occurred because the cavalcade carrying Abhishekh and Aishwarya was in a hurry to enter the bungalow. “My daughter-in-law had to reach home before sunset and Amar Singh was not well, so we were worried.”

Over 100 media persons on Saturday held a demonstration outside the bungalow in Juhu and shouted slogans against Amitabh. They also marched to Jalsa, a bungalow the actor owns nearby.

PTI reports that a police complaint has been registered at the Juhu police station. Prateeksha was the venue of Abhishek and Aishwarya’s wedding.

Abhishek and Aishwarya on Sunday visited the Tirumala temple in Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh, and like at their wedding hundreds of reporters and photojournalists covered their visit.

This was the couple's first public appearance since the wedding. They cheerfully waved to the crowd gathered at the temple.

It was one of the most guarded moments of the Aishwarya Rai-Abhishek Bachchan wedding.

The media, including photographers, were not allowed to step into Bachchan's bungalow Prateeksha -- where the couple were married -- and definitely not allowed to take pictures.

Apparently, there were 11 pandits at the wedding.

Also, it appeared that the wedding had a strong sense of Bunt -- the community to which Ash belongs -- traditions.

Abhishek Bachchan, wearing a beautiful jewel-studded sehera, enters Prateeksha, where his bride--to-be awaits.

The 31-year-old actor arrived in a well-decorated white horse, while the baraat came in seven Volvos.

Aishwarya Rai's La Mer residence in Bandra was bustling with activity on Thursday night, the night of her mehndi ceremony, on the eve of her wedding to Abhishek Bachchan.

The mehndi was brought from the groom's house to the bride's. Over 15 kg of henna was brought from Sojat, Rajasthan for the mehendi ceremony. Ash wore a peach coloured zardosi lehnga designed by her friend Neeta Lulla.

As per tradition, the mehndi ceremony was held at the bride's house. It was a small, private ceremony with only close relatives and friends of the Rais invited. Abhishek, his sister Shweta Nanda, Sonali Bendre and her husband Goldie Behl attended the ceremony at the Rai residence.
